Convert XML to LaTeX/PDF

Date:Sat, 28 Feb 2009 10:35:59 +0100

If anyone is looking for a very easy way to build LaTeX documents from
XML, I think that they will like my upgrade of Lexxia
(www.limpidsoft.com/latex). I hold strongly to the view that content
should be developed OUTSIDE of LaTeX (1e, in XML).

Lexxia is free (FOSS).
It is VERY efficient (written in C++).
It does NOT use XSLT.
The present update is available only for Linux.
The Windows port is coming Real Soon Now.

As you will see in the broader site (www.limpidsoft.com), Lexxia does
much more.

Why this limitation? It seems to be a command-line tool. It should be
possible to compile it on any unix. Are you using any linux-specific
features, or is it just that you haven't tried to make the code portable
to general unix systems? (If the latter, this is not necessarily a
criticism. I understand that the knowledge and skill to make portable
code is in short supply. But if your software is good, one can hope that
someone with the requisite skill will jump in and contribute the
necessary changes. And if it is already portable eough to pretty much
work on linux and windows both, general unix portability ought not to be
far behind.)

Harald, Lexxia WILL be ported to Windows, just like the earlier
revisions (this is mentioned on the site). It is just a matter of time
and priorities. The previous revision (1.2.8) lacks the LaTeX capabilities.

Thanks for your interest
