I want to take the tail end 300 frames of a video and fade to to transparent. Then the starting 300 frame of another video and fade it from transparent to no transparency. Then lay them on top of each other so the videos blends from 1 to the other. Is there a script or two that will do this. Thanks

The GAP plugin allows you to load frames (name them *_000#.extension) and using movepath, put other items (moving or not - and animations, either in a single multi-layer image or multiple images/frames of another animation) on the first animation making various alterations, such as changing the position (that is why it is called movepath!) or the transparency (it would probably be easier not to modify the underlying image but simply fade in the second to cover it).

I usually get the separate frames and then use gimp on them. mplayer with the "-vo png" will have output for each frame as a png image. mplayer -ss [starting-time] -endpos [length] -vo png -ao null (-ao null just to keep it quiet) will give you the frames. For example, an ex girlfriend likes Rocky Horror, so I extracted the frames from the birthday party sequence (short), used gimp's GAP to create a little thing (using clipart - birthday cake with (using movepath) rising balloons, stopped one balloon, used mathmap to create a little explosion of the balloon and faded in the short birthday scene from RHPS. Added some extra sound and used mencoder to encode it to something playable under windows. Not very professional (the balloon's explosion leaves a lot to be desired!) but she liked it.
