Hello, I'd like to know, if it is possible with gimp to browse through all images located in the same directory, e.g. the smartcard from my camera.

Earlier versions had several "gallery" plug-ins for Gimp... with
the page of
icons these produce, you can more or less "browse" any directory of
pictures.
Actually, with a complete enough install, Gimp should generate
thumbnails
from your picture directory.
There are, as the other posts stated, several good image
browsers, but
if you want it all in gimp Id say its possible.

Earlier versions had several "gallery" plug-ins for Gimp...
with the page of icons these produced, you could more or less
"browse" any directory of pictures. Actually, with a complete
enough install, Gimp should already be showing thumbnails from
your picture directory.
