asinh stretch

Dear All, I'm trying to write a piece of code for executing a particular asinh stretch for astronomical images, as described here: http://arxiv.org/pdf/astro-ph/0312483 however, there things in this paper which are not clear to me so I'm having difficulties in translating it into code. Do you know if there is anywhere on the net a better description of the processing in order to have a good asinh stretch? thanks a lot Nicola
