User Manual for v2.6.3

I use Windows XP SP3, and am a complete neophyte with GIMP. Last night I downloaded and installed v2.6.3 and was overwhelmed by how complex it seems. I clicked on Help, and got a message that the user manual had not been installed. I went back to the download page, but the only User Manual I could see was an enormous file for v2.4. Is there a user manual for v2.6.3? If so, where do I find it? If not, is the User Manual for v2.4 near enough to make it worthwhile for me to download and install? Are there any other tutorials/help files/how-tos that I could look at? Thanks in advance -- Regards, Alex

Don't bother looking for the user help for 2.6.3...it's not available yet & don't try to use the help for 2.4...it doesn't work. Google ..gimp tutorial.. and you'll find lots of how-tos to look at. The help for 2.4 does work. It may open in a web browser instead of the
internal help browser (because the webkit-based one of 2.6 has not
been built yet on e.g. Microsoft Windows), but I haven't encountered
any other problems.
There's always http://docs.gimp.org, of course.
