If you're interested in that, there is a paper from Emmanuel Gallo which goals is to reconstruct the sound positions from a set of recordings: I don't remmember if it's: "Extracting and Re-rendering Structured Auditory Scenes from Field Recordings" or "3D-Audio Matting, Post-editing and Re-rendering from Field Recordings."
