Gimp mailing list server has invalid security certificate?
Date:Sun, 30 Nov 2008 18:09:56 +0100
I just followed a link to Gimp mailing lists at: http://www.gimp.org/mail_lists.html and when I click on any of them I get: Secure Connection Failed lists.xcf.berkeley.edu uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed. The certificate expired on 11/6/06 4:06 PM. (Error code: sec_error_expired_issuer_certificate) Is this not the "correct" place for Gimp mailing lists? Thanks!

Not sure why you are getting this. I tried the first one and it worked for me. https://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user Perhaps it has to do with your browser and/or browser settings ? In Konqueror go to 'Settings' -> Configure Konqueror -> Crypto -> Check 'Enable TLS Support' also 'Enable SSLv2' & 'Enable SSLv3' Should work..

This would mean that Konqueror does accept expired (and self-signed) certificates without warning the user. I don't think that this type of security problem would go by unnoticed ;) Michael

Do you mean your browser doesn't tell you that the certificate has expired? I didn't know a browser would even let you configure it to do this. Perhaps you got this warning at some point and selected the "Accept this certificate permanently" option and you've just forgotten about it? > > In Konqueror go to 'Settings' -> Configure Konqueror -> Crypto -> > Check 'Enable TLS Support' also 'Enable SSLv2' & 'Enable SSLv3' I can't imagine why these settings would have anything to do with accepting expired certificates. > > Should work..
