Hi. I use Gimp since i bought my first mac, 8years ago. I begun to paint in digital painting still with Gimp, and with profit, but now, in the last =91stable=92 release for Mac Users, (version 2.6.6p) i discovered with disappointing the eye-dropper doesn=92t more work anymore, if i try to get colors from the lower layer. Sometimes i need to review and modify my pictures adding transparent layers for testing colors and attributes, painting onto the older layers, in a non-destructiv processing. Now that the Eye-dropper is broken i=92m forced to abandon Gimp for now and to use other tools, like Ps. (None of the options of the eye- dropper seems to affect the results i need) But i want to use Gimp!! (Om my mac the last releases 2.6.x aren't so stable..happens sometimes that gimp crashes, but i lost nothing, because i save very often, sob..)

I don't know the Mac but can you try to move your personal gimp settings directory (sth. like "~/.gimp/") out of the way as if you have never used Gimp before? You may also try to create a new test user acount and start the new Gimp version from there, in a clean environment. If everything is fine there, you have sth messed in your personal user settings. I remember having had issues with my Wacom tablet under Linux a year or so ago. I could fix it by comparing my personal settings with the settings a newly created test user would get. HTH, Frank
