Circular selection of set size

Occasionally I need an Image on my CD/DVD to make them look pretty. So I select a height of 120mm and I thought a width of the same except that does not work. The last input is the one that works so if that is height then that stays at 120mm and the width can go to any size at all. Is it not possible to set both height and width in one go and make it work for both dimensions? I would not care if there was a radius to be set at 60 or a diameter to set at 120 but they do not exist. I agree if you set either one or the other then it is reasonable that you should be able to see the shape either as that of a football or the one we use here and call it a football which is sadly lacking in height. Hello, look at the tool (circular selection) dialog. There are options to set the "height", the "width" or the "size". Below, you specify the numeric value of that. That should solve your problem, at least with version 2.6 Kind regards Kai Dehrmann nesredep egrob schrieb: > Occasionally I need an Image on my CD/DVD to make them look pretty. The selection bit is trivial, in the tool settings ratio = 1:1 and I set expand from center and set up a couple of center-lines see: http://www.imageno.com/6kgx3udf3yuzpic.html The above shows the template I use. The graphic(s) get(s) pasted in as a new layer(s) and the outline layer dragged to the top so it is visible. For printing the outline layer is 'un-ticked so it does not show. One definite advantage - IMHO - I use turboprint rather than gutenprint, It has some useful features for printing CD/DVD's. -- rich

Thanks for the information. Yes I now do get a circle that I can recognise as such - however the circle which I expected to become 120mm the diameter of the CD/DVD can be set to any size up or down - I am however sure that I can experiment to get what is needed eventually. I did a couple of years ago purchase a Canon Printer which has facility to print directly on the CD/DVD via Label Print - I think I shall stick with that. B|rge in sunny Perth, Australia

I To set the size is as Kai Dehrmann in the earlier post noted. If the aspect ratio is fixed go to the size boxes set units to mm and enter 120. When you click in the other box it will automatically add the 120 (subject to tiny rounding errors). You can move the selection around in the usual way, hovering the mouse inside the selection and it changes to the "4 arrows". The usual screen shots http://www.imageno.com/8w2qmdymx295pic.html > did a couple of years ago purchase a Canon Printer which has facility to > print directly on the CD/DVD via Label Print - I think I shall stick > with that. > I too have a canon - a pixma ip4500, great prints but I hate the continual head cleaning (ink wasting <g>). For some reason I thought you were using linux for your OS, Turboprint is a linux application. Nothing wrong with the canon software for printing CD's, it works very well. The only problem with the ip4500 is the canon software will not print full face cd's. It goes no smaller than the 4 cm inner diameter. You can set up gutenprint in windows to print full face but it is tedious to set up and involves making a new paper size. It will do it however. - see the second screen shot on above. gutenprint ref - http://webblog.ru/Dickobraz - there is no real info there, except the download link. -- rich
